Dr. Jennings Mathis is a Research Scientist in the Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine at The Miriam Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. She is also a current Research Project Lead for the STAR COBRE and a licensed Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Her program of research focuses on the link between stress and eating disorders psychopathology within Black populations with a focus on discrimination and intersectionality, to enhance evidence-based assessments and interventions with integrated cultural factors. She holds various active leadership positions for the Academy for Eating Disorders and the American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Dr. Jennings Mathis has been awarded and recognized for her leadership and research and has been named a Rockefeller University Heilbrunn Scholar and a Jonas Nurse Leaders Scholar.
