Dr. Brown is a Research Scientist at the Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine at The Miriam Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. Her program of research seeks to identify mechanisms underlying the impact of childhood adversity on adolescent risk behaviors, such as substance use. Dr. Brown was recently awarded a K08 career development award from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) to examine the role of affect in the association between childhood adversity and adolescent substance use by implementing a novel multi-method approach that integrates complementary ecological and laboratory methods.
