Emily Gathright

PhD, FAACVPR

Dr. Gathright is a Research Scientist at the Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine at The Miriam Hospital and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Human Behavior at Brown Medical School. She holds a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Kent State University and completed clinical residency at Alpert Medical School of Brown University. After residency, she completed a T32 research fellowship at the Center for Behavioral and Preventive Medicine funded by the National Institutes of Health. 

Dr. Gathright’s research aims to develop secondary prevention interventions for older adults with cardiac disease by investigating psychosocial and behavioral factors. Her work has been supported by a K23 Career Development Award from NIH that provided advanced training in biopsychosocial aspects of aging, clinical trial design and conduct, and intervention development.
